Many florists peruse Museum galleries for inspiration, but never expect to see their own creations on display there. That unique opportunity to showcase arrangements inspired by art was the focus of Art in Bloom, a four-day exhibition put on by the TMA Ambassadors, a Museum support group. While several American museums have hosted Art in Bloom events before, TMA’s version was given a special twist compliments of the Museum’s long association with glass. Glass studio manager and artist Jeff Mack worked with twelve participating florists, like Denise Lambes of Glendale Flowers, to create one-of-a-kind vessels for their floral designs that would be sold at auction. In the main Museum, eleven garden clubs and amateur floral designers created bouquets inspired by the collection. “Being able to create something that was on display for other people to enjoy and see as a piece of art was a great experience,” Lambes said. “It’s another feather in your cap.” Art in Bloom drew nearly 9,000 visitors and raised more than $100,000 for the Museum’s art education programs—a major financial and artistic success for the Ambassadors and their event co-chairs Elizabeth Emmert and Cindy Rimmelin.
